THE BENEFITS OF KNOWING GOD

There are so many benefits that comes with knowing God. To know God is to believe he exists and to confess him with our mouth as our lord and savior. As the Bible says,

”For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16) and Romans 10:9-10 also says ”that if you confess with your mouth ”Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. for it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.”

Once we accept God in our lives he begins his work of transformation from our old self to a new self in Christ which happens through consistent fellowship with him through praying, studying and meditating on his word.

The transformation into our new self comes with sacrifices as we have to give up some of the habits we enjoy and also change our way of thinking and our approach to life. For example, we may have to give up some relationships or friendships and also change our attitude towards certain things as well as the way we treat other people.

The good news is we do not have to do all of this on our own or with our own strength because truth be told we cannot make these changes without the help of God. For he gives us the grace and the will power to make these changes. Philippians 2:13 says, ”for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.”

Knowing God also comes with countless benefits, it is the only way to truly live a successful and fulfilling life. Some of the benefits that come with knowing God includes:

WISDOM AND KNOWLEDGE: once you begin a relationship with God I can tell you for a fact that you begin to gain more wisdom and knowledge and you begin to make better decisions and choices through the help of the holy spirit.

Jeremiah 33:3 says, ”call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.”

You become more thoughtful and insightful and there are certain things you would know without even being taught asĀ Psalm 119:99 – 100 says,” I have more insights than all my teachers for I meditate on your statutes and I have more understanding than the elders, for I obey your precepts”.

All it takes is to ask God to give you wisdom in all that you do. As James 1:5 says If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.

There is no limit to the area of our lives or circumstances that we can ask God to give us wisdom for, It cuts across all aspects of our lives.

We also need to form the habit of studying the word of God because the word of God has answers to all our questions and solution to all our problems. when we consistently study and meditate on God’s word we become more and more knowledgeable, thoughtful and insightful.

DIVINE PROTECTION: Psalms 91 is quite vivid about the kind of protection that God gives to those that love him and have a relationship with him. In summary, it says if we make God our dwelling place no harm or disaster will befall us as he would rescue, protect and guard us in all our ways. That is not to say we would not have trials because we would as trials come to test our faith and develop certain virtues in our lives.

The kind of protection God gives to his own as described in Psalm 91 may bring doubt to an ordinary mind as they may not believe it’s a possibility but God can protect us that way and much more. God promises to protect us from all things, especially things we most times are not aware of.

If only God could open our eyes to the things he shields us from daily we would be in awe. We should trust him to always protect us without any fear as the devil uses fear as his greatest weapon to destroy us and deny us of the promises of God.

PEACE, JOY AND CONTENTMENT:

God is the only one who gives peace, joy, and contentment that surpasses all understanding even in troubled times, John 14:27 and John 16:33 is clear on this and I am also a living testimony to this.

I went through some seriously troubled times in 2019 With regards to My Marriage and finances (will be writing a post on that soon enough) but the most amazing thing was I found peace, joy, and contentment amid my troubles.

I learned from God’s word that peace, joy, and contentment were part of the fruits of the spirit and as such, I possessed it within me but it did not come automatically I had to ask God for it and trust God for the grace to be peaceful, joyful and content as I strongly believed he would handle the situation I was in at the time and surely he came through for me.

God really wants us to be joyful, peaceful and content at all times as this combination are powerful attitudes that can help us achieve God’s purpose for our lives.

when Joy, peace, and contentment is not present in our lives it is replaced with anger, worry, and envy which are also powerful tools the devil uses to snatch our destinies as they always lead to sin that denies us from achieving our purpose.

Studying the word of God, meditating on his promises and asking him for his grace are the ways we can receive the joy, peace, and love that only God can give.

PURPOSEFUL LIVING: Everyone has a purpose in life. There is a reason why we were all created. Unfortunately, most people struggle in identifying what their purpose in life is and as such live, a life void of fulfillment, focus or any sense of direction but all these changes when you know God for he says in Jeremiah 29:11 that he has plans for us, plans to prosper us and to give us a hope and a future.

The more you spend time with God the more your life is transformed and you begin to yearn for more in life than just living and watching every day pass by without any achievement.

For me, I always knew God had a purpose for my life but I did not know exactly what it was or what I should be doing per time to accomplish this purpose but when I started spending more time with God I became so restless as I felt there was more to my life at the moment.

I asked God to give me an insight on what my purpose in life is and what steps I needed to take to accomplish this purpose because I had made so many mistakes trying to figure it out on my own and had come to a realization that I needed God to help me figure it out.

I made up my mind never to take any Further steps for my life that was not in accordance with the will of God.

God answered me and gave me an insight into my purpose just like I wanted, he also gave me instructions on the steps to take for now to accomplish my purpose.

I must say I do not have all the answers or know all I need to do and how I need to do it to achieve this purpose but I am willingly obeying the instructions I have been given by God.

Through my walk with God over time, I have come to understand that God gives instructions per time. He most times will not give us full insight on everything we need to know because he wants us to trust him and have faith in him.

I never knew I would be writing or even own a Christian Blog as I thought I was terrible with writing, I always knew God wanted me to share his love and his word abroad but I never imagined it was through writing for Starts but it has been such a blessing to write and even more fulfilling knowing it would be a blessing to so many lives.

God is always willing to give us insight on our purpose with detailed instructions per time on how to accomplish this purpose but we need to ask him for it and most importantly be willing to obey his instructions.

UNCONDITIONAL LOVE: God’s love for us is unconditional. He loves us regardless of our flaws and weaknesses and he wants us to come boldly to him even with those flaws and weaknesses.

Hebrews 4:15-16 says ”for we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are yet was without sin. let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

God loves us despite our failures and mistakes, he never gives upon us. we need to change the mentality of believing God will only love and approve of us when we act right and have a good attitude.

God wants us to have a good attitude but he is also aware none of us is without sin and he knows it is only through his grace we can act right and have a good attitude and while in the process of getting things right he loves us and is aware we would always make mistakes.

The Guilt of sin is one of the greatest weapons the devil uses to keep us away from God but we need to stop him by boldly going to God and asking for his forgiveness and believing without a doubt that we have been forgiven for he forgives us our sins and cleanses us from all unrighteousness, 1 John 1:9.

God does not remember our sins once we have been forgiven and he separates our sins from us as far as the East is from the West. Hebrews 8:12 and Psalm 103:12 tells us that much so why do we keep remembering our sins and let them weigh us down which in fact leads us into further sin.

God so loves us that while we were sinners he gave his only begotten son to die for our sins, John 3:16. who else can love us this way and what more should convince us that God loves us just the way we are.

STRENGTH: God can strengthen us to do all things and to overcome difficult situations without being weary, Philippians 4:13 and Psalm 46:1.

There is always a point in our lives where we just have so much going on at the same time and it becomes overwhelming. It could be a tight deadline with so much to do or times where we are going through the storms of life and feel like giving up.

All we need to do in such situations is to go to God who gives supernatural strength such that we can go through all kinds of situations gallantly and victoriously.

Oh! I can testify about the strength that God gives as I am a partaker and I rather not do anything without the strength of God because only in that way I am able to go through life victoriously and do all I need to do timely and with ease.

ABUNDANCE: God wants us to live a life of abundance, and only him can give us such a life.

2 Corinthians 8:9 says, ”For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for our sake, he became poor so that you through his poverty might become rich”.

God also speaks about all the blessings he wants us to have in Deuteronomy 28, He wants us to have abundance in all aspect of our lives. God can supply all our needs, he does not want us to constantly worry or get anxious about our needs or wants. All he needs us to do is to Seek him and ask him.

Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all other things would be added on to you says Matthew 6:33.

We should be more concerned about getting to know God and having a relationship with him because as we do that he would take care of our every need and give us a life full of abundance. If we read Matthew 6 from verses 25 to 34 we would understand that God knows all our needs and he is eager to exceed those needs.

A RIGHT HEART: The more we know God the more we become like him. Not one of us is perfect and knowing God would not make us perfect either.

knowing God can help us have a perfect heart which enables us to quickly acknowledge our wrongdoing and make things right by taking the right actions and asking for forgiveness.

Knowing God enables the fruit of the spirit which are love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and self-control be made manifest in our lives, Galatians 5:22.

The more we spend time with him the more we exhibit these fruits. God through the Holy Spirit gradually replaces our wrong attitude with Good ones only if we let him.

God can change our attitude towards our work, finances, health, family and the way we treat or relate with people. He is interested to change every aspect of our lives for good.

Come closer to God and have a wonderful life-changing experience that would put you in the right direction and give you the fulfillment and peace that you seek. HE IS WAITING FOR YOU.
